Care Sheet

My knives are made from high carbon steels unless otherwise stated. High carbon steel is a little more high maintenance than your typical steel.  It is more corrosive than stainless steel and therefore more prone to rust.  It is important that you keep a thin coat of oil on your knife to help prevent corrosion.

It is not recommended to leave your knife stored in its sheath for long periods of time (weeks/months), as leather tends to hold moisture and can cause the steel to rust more rapidly.  Don't leave your knife in a hot or humid environments for long periods of time (for example: in your car).  Do not wash your knife in a dishwasher. Anytime your knife gets wet, dry it off as soon as possible.  If you use your knife to cut acidic things it will develop a patina (green or brown film) over time, the patina will actually helps protect against rust, but will change the visual overall look of the steel.
